Current first- and second-year UVM undergraduate students are eligible to apply. BIPOC and first generation college students are encouraged to apply. This scholarship may be applied to any recognized program in the field of marine study or its many support services. The recipient of the grant will receive the training at Scubadelphia Dive Shop, Castor Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will include all instruction materials and the use of necessary equipment. The Diver Medic is passionate about diver safety and believes it is critical that all divers learn and practice diver safety. This course was created to educate and train those with a specific interest in dive medicine and pursuing further education in the field of dive medicine. This course ensures that you are prepared for and can deal with any diving related medical emergency. There are two parts to the course, both theory and practical-based elements. The theory will be done completely online and will take between 30 to 40 hours to complete.

Once you have completed your online theory you have 3 months to register for one of our practical sessions, which will take 3 days to complete. The practical sessions are hosted all over the USA. Your certificate is valid for two years. You must be at least a rescue diver or equivalent to qualify and at least 18 years of age.

Ages To encourage individuals between the ages of to obtain their open water scuba certification, Blue Water Divers will award an open water scuba course leading to certification. The course includes instruction, instruction materials, and use of necessary equipment. Students may apply but selection depends on their academic performance, ability to do the job and sufficiency of time for work.

Payment for services is based on the number of hours rendered. A student who qualified for the Student Assistantship program shall enjoy the tuition-fee discount under the WAYS program.
